When my parents make their drive from Ames to Spirit Lake, this is the place that they like to stop for an ice cream or a "drive in" meal. I've driven through Eagle Grove several times and for a variety of timing reasons, they've always been closed. Gayle, my son and I were driving back from Spirit Lake today and not only were they open, but it was time for a pit stop and a little break from a long and hot Iowa drive. Both my son and I enjoyed our ice cream, chocolate chip cookie dough for me and mint chocolate chip for him. We got a lot of ice cream for a little over $3. They also offer floats, banana splits, sundaes, along with the expected hamburger and chicken offerings. There is also comfortable indoor seating and a really friendly local staff. Twiins Shoppe is definitely worth a stop if you happen to be passing through these parts.
